Do you, or have you used amphetamine?
It looks likely that amphetamine use will increase in the current economic climate!

Amphetamines are much cheaper than cocaine, and so it is highly likely that the use of amphetamines will increase as a result of the down turn in the economy. This, of course, is the same argument used to to support the view that 'one drug leads to another' especially in the case of cannabis use leading to 'harder drug' use. If you are an amphetamine user, or have been in the past, I would like to hear your views.

Speed Rehab
I also have been unable to find suitable help for my speed problem...its getting worse than ever..I first looked for help at a local drugs charity a few years ago, and was dismissed with the comment 'just stop taking it'. This was at a time when I used socially..now it keeps me through night shifts and life in general I suppose I'm honest. Does anyone know if there is any sort of medical detox available

Re: Speed
I understand your problem, and you are right to want to sort it out. You say the reason you took speed was 'due to preasure to be awake and functioning'. However, you do not state where that preasure came from. I guess the obvious first suggestion would be to do something about the root cause of the preasure e.g. if it is job related, consider changing to a less demanding job. On the subject of treatment, have you spoken to your GP?

Speed
I've become highly dependant on speed over the last two years, not through socialising or having fun, but due to pressure to be awake and functioning. It crept right up on me, I always refused to take it in the past as it gave me such bad panic attacks. I started by just putting a little tiny bit in my coffee and a little more later if neccessary. When I went to stop taking it, I was a mess and I have tried several times since. I go through around an ounce of reasonable quality speed in ten days and i hate it. Because it has been such a gradual process, hardly anyone evn realises I take it and now that I have admitted to it, people are shocked.
I am currently trying to seek some kind of rehab for this but evrywhere I've spoken to says they do it non-medically and I don't think I can manage unless someone will kind of knock me out until it's out of my system then help me take responsibility from there on in.
It's really really thrown me, I've spent days so determined to sort this out and now i feel like I've no chance. I could probably get a friend to help me with sleepers, kind of trainspotting style home rehab, but that won't work long term.
