Private Drug Treatment

Private drug rehab is conducted in a very specific way. It's all about targeting the source of the addiction and removing it. Once the individual can cope with their emotional and behavioural triggers then they will be able to abstain from drug misuse. Treatment programs are available in the private sector within world-class facilities without the waiting lists and without the problems with proper funding that so many state facilities struggle with.

Drug Addiction Treatment in Private

The private sector provides superior equipment and superior staff to aid addicts in quitting their drug misuse. Drug addiction treatment is not something that's easy and it will involve reliving a lot of traumatic and emotional experiences. But with drug rehabilitation treatment it's possible to break habits that have been present for years. That's exactly why drug rehab treatment is so potent.

Within the private sector there are a lot of differences to the way treatment is carried out and what the experience is going to be like for patients. The first difference is that there are no waiting lists since places are issued on a first come first serve basis. Low dependency drug addicts will benefit in particular from this policy as it can take up to six months for these people to get into a program in the state sector.

In addition, it's also a case of getting better accommodation. State-run drug rehab facilities won't be able to provide the luxury that a private facility can. This is because the state system's funding is tied entirely to the government. In the case of a global economic downturn it means that funding is going to be withdrawn. That's not the same when a private investor is backing up the facility. Ultimately, it means that patients are going to have a more comfortable experience and more chance of success since they will be concentrating fully on their treatment.

The Six Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment

The six principles of drug rehab treatment have been adopted all across the UK and concocted by the Department of Health. They will all be targeted in the same way regardless of the facility as they have been proven by science to give magnificent results to patients. Generally, they refer to the provision of treatment, which still provides a lot of freedom for facilities to work with the equipment and the staff that they have.

  • Drug misusers must be properly assessed across all the different domains of misuse in order to properly ascertain where the problem lays.
  • The needs of any children must be taken into account if the patient happens to be a parent. It can seriously impact the children if the treatment program is carried out incorrectly or it they can even upset the patient if relationships are poor.
  • A care plan must be enforced to make sure that everybody knows exactly what each individual needs to continue in their path to becoming clean and healthy.
  • Each individual is assigned a named individual who will administer the care and handle the needs of the patient. It doesn't mean that no other staff members can be involved in the drug rehab program, but it does mean that one individual must take responsibility.
  • Interventions need to be used alongside the prescribing of any medicine.
  • Drug testing can be used for assessment purposes and examining the outcomes of any treatments employed as part of the drug rehab program.

These principles demonstrate that drug rehabilitation treatment must be different for all patients as each patient has had a very different path to drug addiction. The range of issues means that there are no universal treatments that will cure each and every patient.

Universal Approach

Whilst there's no universal drug rehab treatment available there are similar approaches that can be taken for aiding patients. These are delivered through various different counselling sessions with trained professionals. A basic rundown of each type of treatment approach is given below.

Individual counselling is where the patient will sit with a drug counsellor and will work to confront the issues that may have led to the addiction in the first place. The large majority of drug users will have some trigger that sets them off. It's rare that there's no issue present, which makes this a potent approach for helping to change the emotional and behavioural habits of a patient. These sessions gradually become more emotional and more difficult to cope with as the drug rehabilitation program continues on. That's why group sessions are there to provide the necessary support.

It's important to remember that during those difficult times group sessions will just be around the corner to help. Although they are not designed to reveal the issues that are closest to each individual, they are there to help with support. It's about creating a community that will keep all of its members on the straight and narrow. Countless studies have demonstrated that it's much easier to remain on the program when there are people going through the same thing. The issues discussed in individual counselling don't have to be discussed within these sessions, but many patients bond with one or two people. These bonds are vital to the final success of the patient as it's often the case that they don't have anybody to talk to prior to entering drug rehab.

The belief goes that people also need the chance to release their pent up energy in a creative way. A lot of tension is going to be created as the more severe withdrawal symptoms kick in. These will keep reappearing for a long time and won't go away easily. If there's some sort of distraction then it gives people the opportunity to learn some new skills whilst eliminating their cravings. Most private drug rehabilitation facilities will offer activities that can provide these benefits.

Rehab Aftercare

It's no secret that private rehab can cost quite a bit of money. In exchange for this money it's often possible to opt-in for an aftercare program that will remain for about another month after the program is officially over. It provides a counsellor that will always be in reach and various snippets of advice and guidance will be handed over so they can start rebuilding their lives again.

It's strongly recommended that if aftercare isn't offered then a different private drug recovery institution is opted for.
