24 hours rehab
Immediate Access for help and advice

Anyone suffering from substance abuse or addiction problems can benefit through rehab services offered by the NHS, community-based organisations, charities, and private clinics. Determining what type of rehab is most appropriate is a matter of understanding the abuse or addiction problem along with the individual’s current circumstances. At UK-Rehab, helping you make that sort of determination is one of the things we do.

We are a devoted counselling and referral service established for offering assistance to addicts and their families. If you need assistance locating rehab for a drug or alcohol problem, we invite you to contact our helpline right away. We have all the information you need regarding both paid and free rehab services.

Rehab through the NHS

Most of those in the UK in need of drug or alcohol rehab start with the free services offered by the NHS. Obviously, being able to access treatment without having to pay for it out of pocket is a big plus. Moreover, when these free programmes work, clients can be helped without additional financial stress. However, free programmes do not always work as well as we would like them to.

Before you choose rehab through the NHS, there are some important things you need to know:

  • Waiting Times - The combination of high demand and a lack of resources results in NHS services often being oversubscribed. Please be aware that there may be waiting times involved with any NHS treatment you might seek. You will also be expected to seek out supplemental treatment through community-based organisations.
  • Residential Treatment - Although the NHS used to be involved in residential treatment years ago, that is no longer the case. Any residential treatment they might refer you to will be conducted via a private clinic somewhere in the UK. In addition, except in the rarest of cases, the NHS does not pay for private
  • Treatment Plans - The size and scope of the NHS mission makes it difficult for them to develop customised treatment plans for each individual addict. If you are planning to use free services through the NHS, plan to be put into a one-size-fits-all treatment.

We do not mean to disparage the NHS in any way by telling you these things. Rather, our goal is to make sure you are well informed so that you can make a wise decision. Free rehab from the NHS does have some very good benefits for some people. However, it is not right for everyone.

Rehab through Charities

There is another type of free rehab very few people know about. It is rehab offered by a charity organisation that might be located here in the UK. Sometimes these charities operate internationally as well. They can be religiously based or completely secular, depending on the organisation’s founders and their vision and mission statement.

When rehab is available through charities, clients have access to detox and psychotherapeutic treatments free of charge. However, availability depends entirely on funding. That is one of the reasons it is sometimes difficult to find open space in a charity programme.

If free rehab through a local or international charity is the best option for your treatment, we will do our best to locate one with available space. In the absence of such a free programme, we will work with you to take advantage of NHS services, community-based organisations, or private clinics.

Rehab through Community-Based Organisations

One last source of free rehab is the many community-based organisations most of us are familiar with. For example, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narconon are two of the more well known in the UK. These community-based organisations depend heavily on group participation and the support of local communities. They have proven to be very helpful in relation to the limited resources they have at their disposal.

Rehab through Private Clinics

Now that you know more about the rehab services and who offers them, we strongly urge you to consider private rehab if you are currently struggling with an abuse or addiction problem. While private rehab is not free, it is also not as expensive as most people think. It is well worth the cost when you consider the higher-than-average success rates private clinics achieve.

The most basic of private clinics can cost as little as a few hundred pounds per week. You could also attend an exclusive, luxury clinic costing several thousand pounds. The point here is not really the cost, as there are a number of options available to pay for private care. The point is that residential treatment at a private clinic offers you the best chances of long-term sobriety.

Rehab at a private clinic offers a number of advantages that you will not find with free rehab services:

  • Distraction-Free Environment - Have you noticed private clinics tend to be located in rural or suburban environments? There is a reason for this. Experts have come to know that offering a distraction-free environment, away from the normal hustle and bustle of life, allows recovering addicts to focus completely on getting well. The lack of distractions makes recovery quicker and more complete.
  • Concentrated Approach - Where the NHS is charged with treating any and all physical problems patients might experience, the private clinic is able to concentrate all of its attention on addiction recovery. This concentrated approach means every single resident gets the attention he or she needs a full and complete recovery.
  • Group Support - The environment of the residential clinic includes plenty of group support. Experience has shown us that group support within the rehab setting goes a long way toward helping each individual achieve long-term sobriety.

Our goal at UK-Rehab is to make sure you have access to those treatment options that are most appropriate for you. When you contact us, we will be more than happy to discuss all of your options for free rehab. If you are interested in treatment at a private facility, we will go through those options with you as well. By the time we have finished talking, it is our hope you will be well on your way to recovery.
