Does UK-Rehab Offer Urgent Admissions?

You are already aware that addiction does not discriminate based on skin colour, sex, economic standing, religious affiliation, or any other factor. But guess what? Addiction also does not discriminate where emergencies are concerned. Any addiction situation can turn into emergency at a moment’s notice, requiring immediate admission to a rehab programme.

Emergency rehab admission is just one of the services we provide. We work with the best clinics throughout the UK offering immediate admissions based on individual needs. We are here to help you get the treatment you need at a clinic located as close to you as possible.

All you need to do to access treatment is get in touch with us. You do that by calling our addiction helpline using the phone number provided on this website. Just one phone call and you’ll be on your way to the treatment you need to get well.

Who Needs Emergency Rehab?

Emergency rehab admissions can be broken down into two basic categories: medical and psychological. Let’s take a few minutes to discuss them both.

A medical emergency is easily identified when drug or alcohol use creates some sort of circumstance that is potentially life threatening or otherwise detrimental to human health. For example, an alcoholic may drink enough alcohol to poison him or herself. This is a life-threatening condition that needs immediate care. One option is to send the alcoholic to a hospital emergency department where he or she will be sobered up and sent home. The other option is emergency rehab that will address his or her addiction rather than just sobering them up.

Medical emergencies can take on any number of forms directly related to the substance being abused. It is important that you do not take such emergencies lightly. If you or someone you love is in the midst of a medical crisis as a result of addiction, pick up the phone and call us right now.

In terms of psychological emergencies, they are not as dire in nature. A psychological emergency could be as simple as an addict finally coming to the end of his or her tether and realising they need help. It is considered an emergency because there is only a short window of time to get the addict into treatment before he or she changes their mind.

Another type of psychological emergency is one in which the addict is not thinking rationally about his or her circumstances, thus leading to thoughts of suicide or self-harm. That individual needs to be admitted to a rehab programme before he or she is able to carry out any self-destructive wishes. Again, we urge you to pick up the phone and call us right away if you’re experiencing any thoughts of suicide or self-harm.

What You Can Except from Emergency Rehab

When a drug addict or alcoholic finds him or herself in need of emergency rehab admission, they are in a place where they would be best served by long-term, residential rehab. Residential treatment offers the greatest chances of success for even the most chronic of addicts.

A typical residential treatment programme can last anywhere from 4 and 12 weeks. It includes medicated or non-medicated detox, psychotherapeutic treatments, and aftercare services. The length of your treatment programme will be determined by the severity and type of addiction you are dealing with. Regardless of its length, your treatment programme will provide you with:

  • help in breaking the physical addiction (detox)
  • help in breaking the psychological addiction (psychotherapeutic treatment)
  • physical, mental and emotional support
  • the skills necessary to avoid future relapse
  • the support necessary to reintegrate into society.

When you first arrive at the residential facility, you will undergo a medical and psychological evaluation. This evaluation is intended to accomplish a number of things, beginning with assessing your current physical condition. In an emergency, your health is the number one priority of the medical staff.

After that initial assessment, a couple of things will happen. First, you will be stabilised medically if necessary. You will then head right to detox. The detox process will likely be medicated in order to ensure the least discomfort and maximum safety.

Most people will complete detox in 7 to 10 days. Following detox will be the rehab portion of the programme, lasting anywhere from 4 and 12 weeks. During rehab, you might participate in any of the following types of treatments:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – CBT is a goal-oriented therapy designed to help the recovering addict take ownership of his or her circumstances. It helps them to understand what triggers addictive behaviour and what can be done to avoid it. CBT rarely takes more than 12 sessions to complete.
  • Group Counselling – Almost all residential rehab clinics take advantage of the principle of group counselling. All those currently undergoing treatment meet on a regular basis to discuss their progress, fears, problems, and so on. The main advantage of group counselling is that it provides mutual support.
  • 12-Step Work – The 12-step programme originally developed by Alcoholics Anonymous in the 1930s is something many of the clinics in the UK have adopted. It is a highly successful model that has yielded positive results for more than 80 years.
  • Group Leisure Activities – Many of the clinics we work with provide clients with organised group leisure activities that take place away from the residential facility. The reason for doing this is to show recovering addicts there is a whole life waiting for them outside of drug or alcohol addiction. Many of them do not believe it is possible until they have actually experienced it.

We are here to help you with emergency rehab admissions regardless of your specific addiction. In other words, we do not just help those addicted to heroin or crack. We deal with all sorts of addictions covering everything from alcohol to cannabis to prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Addiction does not discriminate, so neither do we.

If you are in need of emergency assistance because of addictive behaviour, please do not hesitate to call us. Our staff are available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. The sooner you call, the sooner we can get you going.
