In a recent interview, the first after his divorce, Brad Pitt admitted that he was going for alcohol treatment. He explains, In the end, you find: I am those things I dont like.I often wind up with a smelly foot in my mouth. I often say the wrong thing, often in the wrong place and time Im trying to get better. Im really trying to get better. You know, I just started therapy. I love it, I love it. I went through two therapists to get to the right one.
Although the divorce may have had a role to play in his decision to go for therapy, Brad states, I think it would have come knocking, no matter what. He spoke openly and honestly about his relationship with marijuana and alcohol, I cant remember a day since I got out of college when I wasnt boozing or had a spliff, or something. Something. And you realize that a lot of it is, cigarettes, you know, pacifiers. And Im running from feelings. Im really, really happy to be done with all of that. I mean I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know things I wasnt dealing with. I was boozing too much. Its just become a problem but Ive got my feelings in my fingertips again. I think thats part of the human challenge: You either deny them all of your life or you answer them and evolve.
Some people suggested that he might be going through a mid-life crisis, but Brad laughs it off: No, this isnt that. I interpret a midlife crisis as a fear of growing old and fear of dying, you know, going out and buying a Lamborghini. Actually theyve been looking pretty good to me lately! I do remember a few spots along the road where Ive become absolutely tired of myself. And this is a big one. These moments have always been a huge generator for change. And Im quite grateful for it.
Brad mentions that he was not good at parenthood and that one of his aims is to be better at being a father. He never mentions his ex-wife Angelina Jolie directly, but speaks openly about his children and his relationship with them. It is clear that there are aspects of their relationship that he wants to improve and work on.
There was a lot of speculation about Brads health when he recently lost a lot of weight for a movie role, but he is in fine health and enjoying the therapeutic process.
How Do I Know If I Need Alcohol Treatment?
There are several symptoms to look out for that could indicate that you have an alcohol problem. One of these symptoms is that you drink more than the recommended amount of alcohol in a week 14 units. It would also depend on whether you are dependent on alcohol; in other words, you dont feel that you can function properly without the benefit of alcohol. Binge-drinking has increased in the UK quite dramatically and that is also a sign that you do not have a healthy relationship with alcohol. Drinking alone or on the sly are also signs that you may need help with your alcohol problem.
If you suspect that you or someone close to you has an alcohol issue, it is always wise to give UK Rehab a call and to speak to one of our friendly counsellors about why you think that there may be a problem. They are trained and experienced to answer all your questions and make appropriate recommendations according to your needs and requirements.
What Do I Do If I Have a Problem with Alcohol?
The first step you need to take is to admit and acknowledge that you have a problem with alcohol whether you are a regular drinker or a binge drinker. When your relationship with alcohol becomes problematic and is causing issues for you in your life, it is time to act.

UK Rehab Can Help You
UK Rehab can also advise you on self-help groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in your area and give you guidance as to what to expect and where to go. You may, of course, also start at detox and inpatient treatment with aftercare (when you have completed your treatment programme) as well as have the additional support of being a member of the AA.
