Getting help for Addiction & Substance Abuse in St-Blazey
Overcoming drug or alcohol addiction includes eliminating physical and psychological substance dependence, whilst addressing the behavioural issues that lead to addiction. Trying to quit drugs without professional guidance/help can be remarkably difficult -and at times dangerous – especially where physical dependence has developed over time. Alcoholism or other forms of drug addiction impact physical and mental health—and it’s often the behavioural aspects of addiction that are most apparent and troubling to friends and family.
For rehab to succeed, the individual must commit to deep, behavioural changes whilst in treatment. The success rates of recovery depend entirely on the individual’s willingness and commitment to such changes. All good rehab facilities in St-Blazey should offer person-centred treatment which includes a comprehensive screening process. The treatment plan should be tailored to the needs of each individual, with regular monitoring and progress reports throughout the programme.

How Does Rehab Work
Individuals will receive one-on-one and group treatment as part of a treatment and recovery programme – customised to fully address their specific needs. A psychiatric evaluation should also be carried out by certified psychiatrists. All rehab programmes should be carried out by a team of mental health and addiction specialists, as well as wellness specialists, spiritual counsellors, and medical staff.
In the UK the two main choices for rehab are inpatient residential rehab and outpatient programmes. Unfortunately, Inpatient residential rehab is rarely funded by the NHS, however outpatient programmes are available throughout St-Blazey on a self-referral basis. Inpatient residential rehab has significant advantages over outpatient programmes. For example, in inpatient rehab the individual is provided an enclosed environment, away from any temptations. This allows the individual the opportunity to detox from alcohol as safely as possible.
What Happens During Alcohol and Drug Rehab in St-Blazey
Rehab empowers people who are struggling with addiction to live meaningful lives without the need for any substances including alcohol. Qualified professionals foster an environment that is caring, compassionate, and supportive, so that individuals can begin the healing process towards long-term recovery. However, residential programs are not equal and a person struggling with alcohol or drug dependency may not know what the ideal residential treatment program looks like. It is imperative that before choosing a residential programme, you understand what is offered in terms of aftercare and treatment options. A good rehab programme should be made up of group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy. Medical staff should be available any time of day or night to help individuals through the detox phase, and address any concerns they may have regarding psychotherapy and detox medication.
All good residential programmes should offer free aftercare as part of any programme, and should provide regular sessions to facilitate long-term recovery. All rehab facilities in the UK are regulated by, and must be registered with, the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC provide a rating of each individual rehab ranging from “Inadequate” to “Outstanding”. To find out how a rehab is performing, the best place to look is the CQC website, as this will identify any potential issues with an individual facility.
Addiction Therapy & Treatment Options in St-Blazey
When enquiring with the treatment centres, ask about the variety of therapy programmes available to you. A good rehab should have a number of therapeutic models to help individuals with psychological issues. If existing mental health conditions are present, it would be worth inquiring whether the centre specialises in dual-diagnosis. Dual-diagnosis is the presence of mental health conditions and addictions. This often necessitates a specialised treatment plan to treat both disorders simultaneously.
Consequently, good rehab centres should be licensed to provide treatment for both addiction and mental health issues – with the expertise to treat substance disorders without impeding on any existing mental health problems (for example depression or bipolar). A few considerations must be made for the individuals well-being where dual diagnosis is concerned – such as the use of existing psychiatric medication and any therapy undergone prior to rehabilitation. The first part of rehab is detox. Detox works to eliminate any mind-altering substances left in the body before the individual can start psychological treatment.
Medical Alcohol and Drug Detox
Detox is a treatment that intends to break both the physical and psychological addiction caused by drug and alcohol misuse. A medical detox helps to guide individuals through the worst of withdrawal safely, by using detox medication, you can reduce cravings and eliminate any dangerous symptoms that often result from sudden withdrawal. Detox medication is not always necessary, and is usually confined to those who are dependent on alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates.
Medical professionals will decide if a medically-assisted detox is necessary, with additional considerations around the person’s needs and any existing mental health conditions. It is advised that the detox process happens within a residential setting, so that medical professionals can accurately assess any health complications and withdrawal symptoms that may arise.

Therapy for Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Once detox is complete the individual will move on to the rehabilitation phase. Clinicians should employ a wide range of therapeutic models to allow for person centered treatment. Usually one-to-one sessions utilise psychotherapy in the form of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), amongst others. Group sessions should also take the form of talking therapies, but may also include different forms of psychotherapy such as Art Therapy, Meditation, and Drama Therapy. The aim is to create the optimal environment that allows the individual to explore new ways of thinking, bond with peers and seek healthy, rewarding stimuli without the need for drugs or alcohol.
Cost of Alcohol and Drug Rehab
Detox makes up a substantial portion of the overall cost of rehab, as well as the length of stay and services provided. Other things to consider include location and amenities. A 30-day inpatient treatment typically costs £5000 – £10000 from most rehab centres. Cost should never be a barrier to seeking addiction treatment, as often maintaining an addiction has far greater cost implications longer-term.
Consider how much you currently spend to maintain your addiction and the health ramifications caused by substance abuse. Some, but not all rehab facilities accept private insurance, but you should check with your insurance provider first as to whether addiction treatment is covered.
How Long is Rehab?
Most inpatient programmes range from 14 days up to 90 days, but the length of stay will depend on individual circumstances. Longer rehab programmes have been shown to , so it may be prudent to choose extended rehab programmes.
Inpatient rehabs sometimes offer “detox only” options – but this is not endorsed by uk-rehab – as a standalone option, detox rarely treats the underlying causes of addictions. Consider a 60-90 day programme for better recovery. This will allow plenty of time to adjust to a life free from substances, and for the therapy to have a longer lasting impact on spiritual and emotional well-being.
